NJ ROCKS: Ridgewood/Vanderslice

Even though we all know that NJ rules, it isn't often a new club opens in the suburbs that also happens to be near some tasty treats. So, when word hit the BRM camp that John Vanderslice was playing Ridgewood, NJ, the second thing we said after "why?" was "amazing sushi!" Yup, our favorite food blog Off The Broiler raved enough about Sakura Bana that we knew we had to make the trip. Well hells yeah, it was so worth it... I mean, Ridgewood NJ is still a mystery to me, but the food was killer, and the club, the uh, Blend Bar, well, it seemed straight out of a TV show where a bunch of kids from high school go to "check out a band." Of course, this venue is brand new so it has a ridiculously state-of-the-art PA and lights, and was by far the best sounding John Vanderslice show I've ever heard, or probably ever will. Sorry Williamsburg, Planet Thai is so last decade....
