A Weather

Posted by Hartley On Jan 31, 2008

I'll get to this Mr. Carlin business in a sec...

In the meantime, let me tell you that BRM's new bedfellows, Team Love Records, have some incredible new releases coming up in the next few months. New jams from The Felice Brothers (currently on tour with the Drive By Truckers, sound like an amazing amalgam of The Band and Dr. Dog (who already sound like The Band)), Nik Freitas (Ram-era McCartney awesomeness), and the smooth and delightful A Weather, to whom are the subject of this post.

What tis "A Weather" you ask? Well, um, in short, a vaguely spacey folk outfit hailing from Portland, Or - that sounds like the Galaxy 500 Unplugged session of my dreams. A Weather's Team Love debut, Cove, was produced gorgeously by Adam Selzer, whose worked with such other Portland acolytes as M. Ward and The Decemberists. It's no wonder the BRM digs this jams so much.

This band looks like this when they are sleeping:

Here's "Spiders, Snakes" off Cove:

...And as for our old buddy George Carlin. Followng in our whole "weather" theme here, Carlin's hippie weatherman schtick has got to be one of my most favorite stand-up routines ever.
