"THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC"

I had to.

As far as television trainwrecks go, it doesn't get much better than The Hills. Boys walking all over girls right and left. Girls backstabbing other girls wearing revealing designer clothing while purposely guzzling down drinks, Red Bull paid for them to be purposefully guzzling down. Hell, were it not for The Hills, I wouldn't know that Hyde is the hottest club in LA...or is it Les Deux? Who can forget the touching moment last season where Spencer says to his bride-to-be-not-well-maybe-yes-op-no-not, that he is happy to be living with her in his brand new pad because it's close to Les Deux. What a guy!

It's not just a guilty pleasure though. There is serious cultural studies manna in this thing whose new season kicks off tonight at 10pm on MTV, a station which would have no reason to exist were it not to televise the new season of The Hills. Beyond the stylized peek into the lives of sexy rich private school girlies who have it better than you ever will, The Hills raises interesting questions like how real is reality tv when half the characters on the show auditioned to be there, and is Heidi Montag really that much of a tool bag in real-life? (see: photo)

Well, at least this season BRM is in on the fun. Scoring all the gorgeous debauchery will be the likes of Nada Surf...and....and c'mon Hills superviiZor, I know you got room for Cut Copy, or Explorer's Club, or She & Him up in that piece. Use 'em.

There was room for this song by this band, until this band decided that they didn't want to be associated with so many pretty ladies drinking expensive drinks and working for crappy record labels. Bummer.
