THEY LOVE US! THEY REALLY REALLY LOVE US!!!

The Pitchfork totally wants to take the Bank Robber out, get us drunk, and have their way with us. The love they have been showing us recently has been akin to the feverish sentimentality of that freaky couple on Bravo's hit (?) reality tv series, The Real Housewives of New York City. It all started last week when the mighty braintrust over at my old stomping grounds lauded the new Sun Kil Moon record an 8.3. April totally deserved it, but you'll have to pardon my shock at Pitchfork actually giving a high score to a record that actually deserved it. Hell, the last Pitchfork reviewer to sing Mark Kozelek's praises was...uh...me.

And then this happened: Today BANK ROBBER DOUBLE HEADER!??!?!? The new Cut Copy (which I called an "automatic classic" in a blog post like 3 months ago) gets an 8.8, followed by the new Frightened Rabbit record (which I also gushed about months ago here) scores an 8.1.

Here's the newest most awesome Indie jams in order of their Pitchfork score:

8.8. CUT COPY - "Feel The Love" off In Ghost Colors (Modular)

8.3. SUN KIL MOON - "Unlit Hallway" off April (Caldo Verde)

8.1. FRIGHTENED RABBIT - "Good Arms Vs. Bad Arms" off The Midnight Organ Fight (Fat Cat)

But really, now that this is around does anybody still actually "read" Pitchfork? Share
