OBrMA FOR PREZ!

Posted by Hartley On Sep 23, 2008

Here at the BRM we've all been watching Mad Men long enough to know a thing or two about good advertising. Hell, Lyle's pops was an ad man. Plus we've scored some of your favorite ads - so we've got the inside scoop here ya dig. And yeah, we love our boy Obama, but for a young, fit, dude who - how should I put this? - is the opposite of a stodgy old white fartbag, we think Brobrama is slouching on the music tip. I mean really - Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"? or even worse that "I Love America" country anthem by someone who I happily do not know. And yes, we accept that these crummy music choices were all in the name of "strategy" to appear not too left, too smart, or too tasteful. But perhaps there's more of a compromise here to be had. You can still love America if you listen to a black guy other than Stevie Wonder, or music with guitars that is not country or does not name-check America' farmers literally.

So in the name of putting our music where are mouth is, this week we will be intermittently posting BRM-ified video remixes of Obama's campaign ads  - the first of which is above featuring The Notations' impossibly politically perfect, "A New Day." Clearly we think our versions are a vast face-lift on the originals. Obama, call us, we can talk running, plus we'll throw you these jams gratis....well, maybe.
