LYLE'S IN LA, AND SO ARE WE SORTA

Posted by Hartley On Nov 11, 2008

Lyle's in LA, and so are we sorta. Army Navy are certainly the best thing to come out of the City of Angels since Burritos and man made mist in the summertime. Given that Lyle is currently ditching meetings Don Draper style to go party it up in Malibu at enigmatic faux-european orgies, I figure what better time to showcase one of our latest bands from the left coast. Army Navy's selftitled debut album is equal parts Teenage Fanclub, and The Shins - beery, buzzy, power-pop with an earnest heart. It's no wonder not one but 2(!) of the bands songs were showcases in Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist.

Now currently, there is a video for the super freaking catchy "My Thin Sides" - and since our BRM technology is not exactly stone-age, but not exactly 2001 Space Odyssey steeze, I can't embed this awesome new video (UPDATE - here's the video!)

which not only features the baldy guy from Human Giant, but also my awesome producer friend, Adam Lasus (who I worked with back when I actually made music), and the very studio Army Navy (and me!) recorded in. Paul Scheer is funny hell as the Army Navy's sad and loveable tambo-master - and the karaoke sequence is well worth a viewing alone. But guys, hey, the nudity was a bit much. Possibly the best video of '08!

Here's the infectious "My Thin Sides" off of Army Navy out now!!!!

HI LYLE!
