3 Way Tie For Last

Good old Peter Margasak at the Chicago Reader practically wrote a blog update for us (thanks Peter!). His recent round up of current re-issues is a BRM triple threat with a write up on the Volcano Suns, Zero Boys and Death-read it!

I saw the Volcano Suns many times during my college years, and couldn't be happier to get these re-issues. "Balancing Act" was the jam for me back then and still sounds pretty slamming:

Death is really one of those records that we listen to over and over here at the BRM headquarters-and the crew just keeps on saying "Dude, how could you of missed it"? Besides the super limited pressing in 1976 being the best excuse, I'll squarely blame my friends (Dave Martin I'm looking at you), for not turning me on to these guys! MC5/Stooges-oh baby getting this record is like finding some awesomely not stale pizza in the back of the fridge when you, let alone your wife are in no condition to make dinner. Yum:

Gotta be honest, even though i was in the uh thick of the HC scene when the Zero Boys record came out, I totally missed the boat on it.....What can i say, I guess it was a NYHC thing? That just seems goofy considering how great the Zero Boys record sounds today compared to most of the NYHC records (except for Urban Waste-that still sounds killer).  I sorry I didn't see them live but this clip is classic:

Who knows, maybe they will make a movie?  Did anyone actually see the Germs "movie" btw?

Anyway, go read Peter's article, it is WAY better then this spiel (he is a real write ya know).
