FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: 4 NEW BANK ROBBER VIDEOS

Total post-punk album art in waiting...

So the Bank Robber HQ is all abuzz today, awaiting tonight's trek uptown to Harlem's "historic" Apollo theater. Why is your humble narrator, Lyle, and the BRM gang all heading to such a prestigious venue you ask? Well, cause that's where M. Ward's ingenious booker, um, "booked" tonight's rather all-around interesting rock show. Other than seeing Ward and his killer band (dude is totally having a moment right now) and perhaps even a Zooey Deschanel guest-spot at the hallowed ground where Malcolm X infamously got "glocked," the Vivian Girls are opening. Nothing screams M. Ward opening band like a trio of scrappily tattooed suburban punk chicks with a penchant for girl-group harmonies, who are also "totally having a moment" right now. Should be an interesting night. BBQ is being discussed beforehand.

Now. As for the matter at hand, I bring you 4 new music videos from Bank Robber artists. These moving pictures to sound have been deemed "good enough to blog" by yours truly, and I promise you they won't feature too much cloying stop-motion animations, cut-out animals, poorly-lit performances, or egregious psycedelic special effects.

First up, Merge Record's retro-rock dudemans, The Broken West's "Perfect Games":

Completely awesome video. Swedish subtitled - an apparant homage to one of my favorite films of last year - the Nordic highschool vampire flick, Let The Right One In. This is just the type of video this song needed - engaging, funny, gives the band a real personality, and works with the song. 9.1

*The Broken West's completely underrated and AWESOME new album, Now or Heaven is out now on Merge Records.

Next up, Barsuk's own Vampire Weekend-types, Ra Ra Riot with "Can You Tell":

I believe this is video numero deuce for these Syracuse-hailing, cello loving crooners. It's "a beaut" as my father would've said. Much better than the one with the band playing on a map. This guy almost looks Tim Burton - all gothic snow doomy and gloomy and lovely. 7.8

*Check out Ra Ra Riot's new "Can You Tell" ep on Barsuk featuring unreleased remixes, songs, and exclusive live video content. BOOM.

So you're dying to see Ben Kweller topless, eh? Well with his new video for the twangy, "Fight", you've got your chance:

Kinda ghetto style video. Very 1994. In other words, I loved it. Reminds me of a Pavement video sorta - at least the band goofing around fishing part. Though Pavement probably woulda been wearing like whale costumes or raincoats...8.3

*Ben Kweller's new country album, Changing Horses is out now on ATO.

Last but not least, a video I haven't even watch yet for La Strada's "The Sun Song":

My expectations are high for this video - 9.4 potentially....

*La Strada's awesome self-titled ep is out now on Ernest Jennings Record Co.
