OUR OWN OSCARS

As I'm sure all of you fine readers of this here Bank Robber Music blog realize, it was a huge night for the BRM last eve at the Oscars. We had plenty of wins. Plenty. But before I get to all that - a couple impressions...

- I worry for Seth Rogen and Co. True, the broadcast would've been a flaming (and I mean that in both senses of the word) pile of turds without the awesomely funny Pineapple Express bit, but is dudeman's funny/stoner/jew schtick getting old even now that he's skinny? Look, Seth, we love you, but you're too one-note man. We want to see you succeed - SO, stop hanging out with Apatow eventhough we know you love him as much as Sean Penn pretends to love Gay rights and Hugo Chavez. You need to flee the man that birthed you, and grow up into the fine anti-leading man we know you can be. You don't want to end up like Jonah Hill. There's no saving him.

- If it wasn't enough that Penelope Cruz is drop dead sexy as hell gorgeous, she managed to thank both Woody Allen AND Pedro Almodevar in her acceptance speech. Marry me Penelope. We can have Spanish Jew kids together. It would be brilliant.

- For anyone wondering, last night gave definitive proof of Hugh Jackman's complete and utter "gayness" - Wolverine spin-off's be damned...dude would rather make out with Magneto than Jean Grey.

- We know Rourke got Bank robbed. But we don't know what's up with Rourke's nails? They are like oddly pale and freakish, riiiight?

- Phillip Seymour Hoffman has a new gig where serves me coffee all day. That's why he was wearing the beanie.

-Robert Downey Jr. has pulled the greatest come-back of '09. I think he really beats out Mickey. Dude looks great. He's got a sexy wife. Ironman was f'ing awesome. Better than The Dark Knight to my eyes. Let's just hope this upcoming Sherlock Holmes flick doesn't kill all this proverbial goodwill or as they say in Hollywood: momentum

OK NOW CHECK IT - The REAL BUSINESS - look at all of these OSCAR WINNING FILMS THAT HAD BRM MUSIC!:

Run For Your Life (which featured music from M. Ward, The Long Winters, and Antietam)

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (Bishop Allen, Army Navy, Takka Takka)

Colverfeild  (Spoon)

and who can forget this brilliant gem of moviemaking...

What Happens In Vegas (Shout Out Louds)

and this "emotionally gripping" Rachael McAdams Iraq flick...

The Lucky Ones (Conor Oberst)

YEP. The Bank Robber was on fire in the '09 Oscar race.

Here's Nada Surf's "Hyperspace" from another Oscar Winner: My Bloody Valentine: ;)
