ROSEBUDS MAKE PRO/ANTI NRA VIDEO

Here's looking at you...and you...and you...

So everyone's favorite North Carolina-hailing his'n'hers duo who may-or-may-not-be-married, The Rosebuds, have gone and made a video. Considering the front page of yesterday's NY Times Dining section was a 2,000 word expose on Brooklyn's blossoming artisanal food scene, I'd say the RBudz youtube clip for "Life Like" is pretty "on the pulse." According to The Time's piece bearded bespecled hipsters in Brooklyn are just dying to learn how to pickle properly, make their own chocolate and cheeses, and of course "break down" ie. slaughter ie butcher their own protein. Yikes. Call me old fashion but i like to impart some magical thinking when i'm enjoying my steak - I'll take suspending my disbelief and "willful distance" over "getting back to the earth" any day of the week.

Alas, I've grown out of touch with the culture. It was bound to happen sooner or later. The whole Freeman's Hunting is aesthetic is in full force, and now even a band whose previous record sounded like Depeche Mode is getting in on the fun. Not only are deers artfully gunned down, but check out Rosebud Ivan's very There Will Be Blood page-boy hat.

Yep, pretty much. It's a gorgeous song. It's no wonder it's the title track from The Rosebuds new one...And in case, you were enthralled by that baby and want to hear another new "animal"-influenced Rbud tune, check out this Life Like standout called "Nice Fox":
