Pop goes the music (thank god!)

I don't need no stinking Facebook quiz for me to list my five favorite drummers, but here they are anyway:

Bun E. Carlos, Topper Headon, Keith Moon, Elvin Jones and Chuck Biscuts.......now considering that only one of those five is either alive or active, it made seeing Bun E. playing the other night with Tinted Windows even that much more exciting.....As you probably already know, Tinted Windows is a "supergroup" of sorts featuring the dude from Hanson, a dude from Smashing Pumpkins, the dude from Fountains of Wayne and of course Bun E.  So yeah, supergroups always have mixed results (see: New Edition, The Firm, Dr. Janet), but this is beyond any of that noise... A basic premise of writing pop songs that sound like they are from a missing Rasberries album or perhaps even Badfinger outtakes -- how can you go wrong? I'm not going to waste any more energy spieling it so just check out the video for "Kind Of A Girl" and as always you'll thank me later......

While I'm talking  about the power of all pop, make sure to check out the new Numero jam "Titan! It's All Pop!."  A compilation  from 1978-1981 of  The Titan label from Missouri (!) it compiles the singles of such bands as The Secrets, Arlis, and The Boys. Yeah, I haven't heard of any of 'em either, which, like all things Numero, makes this quite a find.  If you've worn out your Rubinoos and Records 45's then immediately check out "Please Change Your Mind" by the Boys (below)....you can hear Bun E.'s influence all over this bad boy for sure!
