Too much?

So look, when months ago I proclaimed Bklyn's The Pains of Being Pure At Heart as totally awesome, and championed their self-titled Slumberland debut on this blog I had no idea what was in store for these guys and girl. Now it seems as if overnight - 2009 is being proclaimed as the "Year of Indie Pop". First, The Pains' debut got a HUGE Best New Music review on Pitchfork (a site who in the past has been criminally unkind to bands of The Pains' ilk). And then, a zillion SXSW shows later, on Friday night, THIS.

Yes, a band on Slumberland played CARSON DALY's crappy late-night show!?!?!? Has hell frozen over? Perhaps. Did The Pains' totally destroy with their performance of "Young Adult Friction"? Naturally. Do we endorse bassist Alex's choice of retro eyewear? Most definitely.

So yes, a television performance debut later, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart are now the biggest thing since Black Tambou....er....My Bloody Valentine. The best thing about this - take it from us, their new songs are some of the best they've ever written. Hopefully they will get to play one on Letterman next.

Here's "Everything With You" off of The Pains of Being Pure At Heart's s/t debu out on Slumberland now:
