Pitchfork 500 vs. BRM 2008
Posted by Lyle On Aug 21, 2009

So Pitchfork is a uh, well, I'm not sure why, compiling the top 500 songs of the 2000s. Really? Don't they have anything else better to do like helping health care reform? Eh, I guess not. So I know the question on everyone's mind is, what percentage of those jams are BRM? Well, due to our in-house mathlete/accountant Douglas he has figured out the BRM percentage works out to 7.6% of those jams. Not bad right?I mean... I guess we have more jams in there then another licensing agency, but hopefully they have better things to do then figure it out. Not us though... 7.6%, that's us, and that doesn't include DFA (since we just started working with 'em in 2009), or various bands who claim that they "don't " license. So here is the super list and a couple of music video highlights if you fall asleep while reading it.
Enjoy!

"The Way We Get By"
By BRMmathNERD Aug 21, 2009
Ah... but you forgot to break out the percentage of Merge releases by bands that rhyme with Keith Moon 7.7881% percentage of Merge releases by bands with food related names 9.3457766351% or percentage of releases we love 99.2845923%... sorry the feelings I have for the Labradford 7 inch, Wedding Present 7 inch, and new Wye Oak album go 7.5938% beyond love and end up in another category altogether! *All figures are based on my memory of my record collection and a brief look at Discogs.com so the margin of error is +/-.000034321%.

Douglas, as usual, presents us with a way of getting a headache.

Of that 7.6% Merge seems very well represented! Without crunching any numbers I'd say were about 64% of Bank Robber's 7.6%. And spoon is about 48% of that 64%. Now back to trying to put a Single Payer clause back on the table!
