A Blog Post Grows In Brooklyn

No one knows less about what is going on in Brooklyn then Mr. Hoboken here... not that I didn't spend a lot of time when I was young hanging out in Crown Heights visiting my dad's parents.  So yeah, Crown Heights is where it is at baby (or at least was where I was at when I was a baby).  That being said I haven't been to Williamsburg lately, but like most things I don't know about, it won't stop me from doing a answer piece to the New York Magazine, let alone the NYPRESS piece on the best bands of Brooklyn.   Yup, you didn't ask for it, but now you got it, here is BRM's partial list of Brooklyn bands NOT in those other non blog publications...

1) Nada Surf:

2) White Hills
3) Javlin
4) Bird of Youth:

5) Chris Garneau:

6) Palomar
7) Parts And Labor
8) Jennifer O'Connor:

9 )Oneida
10) Gregor Samsa
11) Dawn Landes:

12) Mountains
13) Besties (R.I.P)
14) High Places
15) Fiery Furnaces:

Also below is the appendix to the BRM list, the countless bands that Ernest Jenning Record Company has signed.  In true BRM contrarian style... we... um... counted them.

16) Wild Yaks
17) Takka Takka
18) Nouvellas:

The above list of 18 bands in no way represents all the Brooklyn based artists that BRM works with, but does equal about 10389.23% of all the bands currently based in Brooklyn (not including all the bands who gave up on Silverlake and now operate with a POBOX in Brooklyn).

Sigh,

Lyle
