Arcade Fire the Rumors Are True
Posted by Lyle On Jan 22, 2010
So yes, I know when most of you think about Montreal you think of great bagels, Kevin McDonald, and The Arcade Fire. I am not sure if Kevin has texted 10 Canadian dollars (that is $9.46 US!) to Haiti yet, and lets face it, great bagels only think of themselves... they have nothing inside, so heartless and chewy. The only Montrealers we can count on are The Arcade Fire and our good friends the AF have come through with a great plan. As you might of heard they are now opening the doors to licensing for the next seven days, after years of turning down almost all licensing requests. Proceeds from the license will go to the Partners in Health... ya dig? Since the Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne family is originally from Haiti this cause is more then just a celebrity bandwagon hop... so supervisors its time to put your favorite arcade fire tunes up to picture asap!
Here's a nice old AF song performed on the old Conan show (i miss that set):
In other Haiti benefit news in NYC Brooklyn Vegan and the Bowery Presents are setting up a concert of comedy and music this Saturday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. The show will features short sets by Zach Galifianakis, Britt Daniel (of uh, Spoon), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), St. Vincent, Janeane Garofalo, Wyatt Cenac (of the Daily Show), & possibly more TBA... For more info check out Brooklyn Vegan.
Thanks,
Lyle
