Eh, what can I say? After the schmear of snow this week and the episode of CHUCK that broke everyone's brain (I thought it was a fine episode btw), I realized I spent all my energy on seeing Yeasayer, and avoiding slipping on ice.  With everything in the world closed for snow-mageddon I took a little time to catch up on the goings on at Pitchfork.  I am sure the rest of you have moved on to other "Captain Obscuro" music blogs by now (which ones you viewing these days?), so I figured at this point I'll supply you with the readers digest version of the BRM / P'FORK reviews of last week (there were so many... we might need someone to come along and digest this further):

Pitchfork went for the ladies this week leading with Kora's Stricken City, check out the video:

Back here in the U.S. Drag City's got some mad props (really? did I just say "mad props") for Scout Niblett...here's "I.B.D.":

Then over on Mark Kozelek's label Caldo Verde brings the party around with Kath Bloom's "Thin Thin Line"- check out "I'm Thinking Of Love":

Our new favorite from Brooklyn, Sharon Van Etten has this cool new song "Love More" that isn't on her album "Because I Was In Love" ...watch this nifty little video about the new song being made for the amazing Weathervane Music Organization.

OK OK, enough with the ladies, can I get a review of a dude with a beard for crying out loud?  How about Title Tracks on Ernest Jennings? Video please:

And if that isn't enough reading for you how about a zillion word piece about the music of Africa aka "Everything I Wanted To Know About African Music But Was Afraid To Ask".... yeah, BRM is working those Fela re-issues on Knitting Factory, so check out "Zombie" by Fela:

Enjoy,

Lyle
