"THERE'S A PARTY IN MY HEAD AND NO ONE IS INVITED."

@2:20 - HEY LEAVE THAT DOG ALONE CHUMP!!!!!!

We at Casa De Le Bank Robbing certainly do not endorse the kicking and punching of dogs. So you can imagine our collective "WTF!?!?!" when the sweaty disgruntled protagonist at the center of Tame Impala's otherwise awesome new music video for "Solitude Is Bliss" takes a slug at a persistent pooch. We know the dog was with the coppers but that's still no excuse homeboy. Take a chill. Take a xanax. Take a shower?

Dog violence notwithstanding the Megaforce directed (ed. note: yeah you read that right the director(s) name is Megaforce. I guess Voltron was taken) video for "Solitude is Bliss" is pretty dope, but it's got nothing on the song. Tame Impala - an Australian three-piece - do retro rock the right way. Which is just to say the trio's new album, InnerSpeaker (Modular), is for the most part less about the songs and more about the jams maaaaan. Take a hit from the proverbial bong and dig on Tame Impala's heady amalgam of 70's kraut, psych, and most anything else that would be filled in Other Music's "THEN" section. If that doesn't mean anything to you - HERE, just take a gander at this album cover:

Pretty much. Bucolic stoner rock for the masses. And it will be for the masses - because the lone slice of pure pop perfection, the lone concession to Sirius/XM Satellite radio playlists really hits all it's marks. "Solitude Is Bliss" opens with some infectiously simple hook equal parts Primal Scream, AC/DC, The Who, Mott The Hopple, fuck ...PEARL JAM - Basically any band that had a guitar in it in the past 3 decades would've killed to claim this baby as their own. The dude over at Pitchfork called it an "earworm" - uh...ok...I guess they want to sound like a Mojo over there these days. But anyway, the shit sounds good. Plus, for all of you wearing neck-scarves outthere the chorus has some unexpected Zombies meets Jefferson Airplane-esq twist that essentially comes out of nowhere and put one big ass grin on my face. WHAT AN EARWORM. Just don't hurt the doggies.

Tame Impala's InnerSpeaker is out this June on Modular.

In other news, I saw Phantogram the other night at Bowery. Holy shit amazeballs good. The girl was hot too.
