ATPractice...

Another daydreaming Friday, this time thinking about next week's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in upstate NY. A veritable "pete's picks" group of BRM artists are going to be hitting this one up this year, so here's a little primer if you are looking to get psyched, or just get a little weird at your desk on Friday afternoon...

Actually the entire point of this post is for me to continue my mission to listen to the same 13 minutes song as many times as humanly possible this week. It's a record i think i can break, unlike this one:

(That's 29.5 inches of pancakes folks)

Epic track in question which I have easily played 25+ times already this week? that would be Merge Records' strangest offering of the year - "Year of the Ox" by the non-family-blog-friendly F@%KED UP - who happen to be playing this year's ATP (see how i brought that back?). Seriously. New favorite song. And while it might not be out for another month, our dear friends at Merge are streaming it here right now! Do yourself the favor, its way more awesome than it should be.

Also on the bill are Thrill Jockey's White Hills, who bring the riffy stoner sabbath rock to an entirely new level, not unlike the quadruple fish eye tweak-o-vision on this video of them performing the track 3/4:

And that's not the only Thrill Jockey act traveling to historic creepy upstate NY. We get to see Tortoise too! Pretty excited, since we've spent the past few weeks being jealous of the folks in Chicago who got to see this crazy Tortoise 2.0 jazz festival performance complete with JAZZ FLUTE last week:

You know who loves Jazz Flute? Everybody.

I sure am spending a lot of time on this blog today. And I'm not even done! Jeez... It's like BRM is curating this thing... They've also got Drag City graduates BORIS playing and their set features Barsuk's own Jesse Sykes. This is out of control. I need some pancakes.
