JUICEBOX BLOG TAKEOVER 2011 TURBO EDITION

Dear Bloggy,

Since most of the office is at SXSW, I’ve been given the task of writing to you this week. Most people will be reading this from my native land, Texas. Must be nice! Oh Bloggy…instead of stalking the members of Wild Flag, I’ve been stuck here in New York doing HARD work. So far, I’ve instituted a few new BRM policies which I hope will be accepted with open arms when everyone gets back. The one hour post-chipotle nap sesh is probably the best idea I, or anyone else, has ever thought of. p.s. we’re out of snacks and beer. Anyway, where was I… Music…

I recently read an article called “10 Archetypical People You Will Meet At #SXSW” and instead of doing my dream blog post of the saddest slash my favorite BRM songs, I’m going to rip off this article’s idea and attach songs I think some of the types should be listening to. Here we go!

1.     Aspiring Entrepreneur – Fredrik “Omberg”

 - Your Mark Zuckerberg types would listen to this if they had actual human emotions.

2.     Venture Capitalist – Gregory and the Hawk “For the Best”

 - After this person steals your idea and/or company, you'll need this.

3.     The Networker – Camera Obscura “I Need All the Friends I Can Get”

 - Question: how many stranger's business cards do you have on you right this second?

4.     The Celebrity Chaser – Cursive “I Couldn’t Love You”

 - Remember SXSW before Twitter?!

5.     Film Buff – Chris Garneau “The Leaving Song”

 - This should play Tuesday night as the film people mourn the end of having downtown to themselves.

6.     Dirty Hippy – Dinosaur Jr. “Said the People”

 - My little sister now knows what pot smells like, thanks, SXSW!

7.     Hipster – Uh Huh Her “Never the Same”

 - Everything good about the 80s and the now-sies combined in one song!

8.     Hedonic Inverted Centaur – The Twilight Sad – “I Became A Prostitute”

 

 - Like this particular SXSW type, this song is magic.

9.     Austin Purist – Spoon “Cvantez”

 - Duh.

They forgot to mention the regular girl looking to have fun on 6th street for the weekend who doesn’t get what’s going on even after having it explained to her by numerous people. Bless her heart.

Hope everyone has fun at SXSW- have a Shiner Bock for me!
