Happy BRM Birthday!

It was just a mere six years ago that I put out my licensing shingle in Hoboken!  Now I am ready to enter the first grade!  Paper bag it?  No, that's for nerds... thankfully Bennie's Thai Cafe delivers.

However first a trip down memory lane?

Baby's first placement? This isn't exactly the first license, but oh what a BRM landmark!  Nada Surf recording a new version of OMD's "If You Leave" for the O.C.  Just watching this scene will immediately bring you back to a time of Friendster and faxing!  Check it out:

The first license in the BRM databse (yes I have a "database"!), is actually "Happy Kid" in the Gilmore Girls:

Damn that show was good...still is!  Recently had a flight with Direct TV and ABC Family cranking out the Gilmore repeats.  Outside of my own viewing habits we can still six degree the Gilmore Girls to BRM six years later.  Lauren Graham and Parenthood are keeping the BRM spirit (and company) alive.  Next week's pivotal episode will featue two BRM artists:  S. Carey and JBM (Not these particular jams, but who doesn't love a video over a song link?):

S. Carey:

JBM:

What is in store for BRM in 2011? First crush?  First school yard brawl?  Maybe a Facebook page?  What we do know is that we eagerly await the new Nada Surf album coming later this year and hopefully the Gilmore Girls movie (come on... it is time!). Nada's cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" playing in Luke's new hipster coffee shop:

First BRM placement since we turned six? Hey Rosetta! You can hear them on this FNL  promo: Now where are the cup cakes (ok vegan is fine)!

Happy Birthday to us!
