Oh, America!

Yeah, it's almost the holiday weekend and the Bank Robber Wall Street office is already knee deep in Six Point cans or on the Hampton Jitney or something, so the weekly BRM blog duties have made it all the way out to BRM West.

First things first, today being Canada day, what better way to celebrate than with a Canadian – Destroyer's Dan Bejar - singing a "Song For America."  Smooth jams and saxophone to soundtrack your trip to The Beer Store!

Speaking of Canadians…Secretly Canadian's the War On Drugs have a new album coming out next month.  You can't get much more American than the War on Drugs…when it comes to declaring war on intangible nouns with vaguely defined metrics for success, we've really got the market cornered.  Check out the first track from The War On Drugs' Slave Ambient, "Baby Missiles"

Former American Analog Set member (yes!  I knew I could work this one into the "America" theme) Andrew Kenny's new project The Wooden Birds are celebrating the release of their Pitchfork approved new album Two Matchsticks.  Check out the video for the title track:

Obligatory hat tip to Bill Callahan's "America!" . . . Captain Kristofferson / Buck Sergeant Newbury / Leatherneck Jones / Sergeant Cash / What an army!  Indeed.

Alright, I'm not going to leave you without some music to jam at your weekend BBQs:

Mates of State are back with the first one off their new album Mountaintops (Barsuk) due in September.  Thankfully they led with a classic summer jam "Maracas"

And let's not forget that YACHT just dropped the soundtrack to your summer with their new album Shangri-La.  Check out the extended video for "Utopia/Dystopia (The Earth Is On Fire)"

DFA shows you how to get the July 4th party started with just a turntable and a disco ball…of course, it helps if that turntable is playing The Rapture's brand new banger "How Deep Is Your Love"

And finally, new Gardens & Villa album drops July 5th.  The whole thing is streaming over at yourstru.ly (or you know, you can just ask us for it).

Happy bbq-ing everyone!  (I know you wish you were going to be at my BBQ, because it's going to have these.  Don't be jealous.)
