Absolutely Kosher... always worth it's salt.

So another record label decides to stop putting out new releases....It seems to happen more and more these decades. Though, when I read that Absolutely Kosher decided to stop with the new jams (especially with the announcement a week before the Jewish New Year... well that kinda hurt.  Absolutely Kosher was one of the few labels that signed on to BRM right when I started the company. He had faith in this east coast jew, and that is something I will never forget. (the labels that turned me down?  Yeah, I'll never forget you either).  Also Cory has / had great bands.  The Wrens? How many times have I written about them.....damn they are so good......and besides how many bands had a song in the return of Knight Rider as well as Numbers?

I wish I had a ton of awesome placements that could of helped to keep Absolutely Kosher alive, but I don't...  but I'll be damned if we didn't swing hard for them. I mean come on... how about this classic scene in "Grey's Anatomy" that features Chris Garneau's "Castle Time":

One of the last releases that Cory put out was the amazing Withered Hand.  No placements, but that doesn't mean it isn't awesome:

Everyday we bang away at this licensing racket and its easy to forget that sometimes the bottom line doesn't tell the whole story.  Great records are great records no matter where the decimal point is.  Cory's enthusiasm for the music he worked with will be missed, but like all the good labels, the tunes still and always will sound great.

xo Cory, and Happy New Year!
