Ask Siri - BRM BLOG 4S

Couldn't figure out quite where to go with this week's blog.  The BRM blog has already been occupied, it's too early to talk about Halloween, and I'm sure as hell not going  to talk about CMJ (yes, Bushwick house parties and John Maus secret shows, I am jealous of you and I'm pretending you don't exist). So I immediately went for my trusty fallback position, the Internet meme.  But, too lazy to pick just one, this week's blog is brought to you by ALL the memes.  Let's do this.

First things first, remember that Harold Camping guy?  The one that said The Rapture was coming May 21 and we were all prepared with our Rapture parties and reserves of bottled water and stacks of Doritos only to wake up May 21 to find NO RAPTURE and he was all "oh my bad, I meant OCTOBER 21."  Anyway, guess what?  Today is October 21 and that dude was right about one thing, The Rapture returned and brought us a banger of a new album to dance to.  Get your dance on:

Next up: aliens. Perhaps you remember that rash of UFO sightings a few weeks ago in Kansas City. I swear, I want to believe, but I wonder why these UFO's don't ever fly near anyone holding a half decent camera?  Anyway, CANT just released a video for their awesome new track "Believe" and it consists entirely of amateur footage of UFO sightings and people's reactions to said footage.  Check it:

Moving on, let's talk about this Bad Lip Reading thing.  Seriously, I know it's not very original but just try to get through this Rick Perry one without laughing.  BRM favorites Future Islands have a new video for "Give Us the Wind" that honestly lends itself more to a Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment in my opinion, right?  It starts with a lady buried up to her neck nonchalantly smoking... what was a wise cracking robot have to say about that?

But TRL's Rob Crowe actually did a Bad Lip Reading version of a Bad Lip Reading video...wha??  That's too meta, I'm confused.  It's funny though

Coincidentally (or is it?), Rob's album He Thinks He's People just came out.  Check out the first track "Sophistructure":

One of the co-creators of Portlandia's "Put A Bird On It" meme, Carrie Brownstein, is the bad ass lead singer of the bad ass Wild Flag.  No other info necessary, just watch the hilarious Tom Scharpling-directed video:

Am I really going to continue with this meme thing?  I don't think so, because I just discovered Teenage Mutant Ninja Noses and my brain broke.  Little green guys on noses!  How about just big green guys... there's one in this new Generationals video:

Ok need a less scary monster movie story?  Why don't you check out the new Honda video featuring none other than Ra Ra Riot (and a nice cameo by The Echo and the crawfish dude outside of Two Boots):

Heck you wanna get meta?  Let's watch a two ladies watching a video featuring those same two ladies which is if fact... their current video.  It's really not as brain breaking as it sounds.  Here is the new Uh Huh Her video:

Also, have you seen the promo yet for The Walking Dead featuring Wye Oak?

Alright, I think that's all we can handle for now.  See you next week,

Sarah & Douglas
