Apparently Monday is some kind of holiday...we at the Bank Robber will be slaving away as always, but in case you're one of the chosen ones who gets to take the same holidays as the mail carriers, may we suggest some new music for you to check out while you're mulling over the President's Day sales for a new car or a couch or a refrigerator, just like George Washington would have wanted you to.

Big news last week of course, our beloved Bonny Bear won himself a coupla' gramophone-shaped paperweights and celebrated by releasing an utterly gorgeous dueling piano session with Bon Iver-member and label-mate Sean Carey, re-imagining some of the songs from Bon Iver, Blood Bank and the Bonnie Raitt cover you know and love.  It's well worth 24 min of your time...in fact, it's so good you may just spend the whole day watching it on repeat (not that we're doing this right now or anything, ahem)...

And hearing Sean Carey's gorgeous harmonies and piano playing in the above clip might have you wanting to revisit his solo effort All We Grow, and you would be well advised to do so.  In fact, here's a selection from that album now to make it easy for you:

Also in the category of "you're gonna want to check this out, trust us" may we suggest new Mute signing Cold Specks.  Vogue calls it "doom soul" but we just think it's damn gorgeous.  Album is not out until May 22 but get excited with the early first single "Holland."

Speaking of Mute, perhaps you caught Big Deal's big US tv debuts last week with a double whammy of placements in both Secret Circle AND Parenthood!  Whoo!  They also just released a video for the gorgeous song "Talk," check it here:

Oh and check out the new video from Thrill Jockey's Pontiak:

And for something completely different, why not check out the first track from new Thrill Jockey artist Sidi Toure "Tondi Karaa"

Enjoy the long weekend,

Sarah
