It's like a heat wave (LA version)

I'm just gonna go ahead and apologize here -- I'm pretty certain that this current LA heat wave is a direct result of all the snickering I did when the east coast was going through their own heat wave a few weeks back.  So...sorry everyone, next time I will do my best to keep the  schadenfreude to a minimum.  But, gotta admit that the heat is good for some things -- including finally motivating me to take that beach day in Malibu last weekend, striking up conversations with strangers under the guise of "meeting the neighbors" when really I'm just hoping for an invite to cool off in their pool, and hey, it's gotta be good for movie ticket sales and tv ratings right?  I know I finally made it to a matinee screening of Batman last weekend just to beat the heat!

Well, looks like I'm not the only one thinking about the dry, dusty, hot summer days.  Check Soulsavers' (featuring guest vocalist Dave Gahan) take on the socal summer in their new video for the haunting "Take Me Back Home"

Oh and how about the new Jens Lekman video "I Know What Love Isn't" featuring Jens' new summer haircut?

Speaking of watching tv in your air conditioned living room, here's the Weeds intro featuring Bomb the Music Industry's cover of "Little Boxes" in case you missed it!

Ok, while I'm on the subject here, let's just say that if I was on the Family Feud and I had to name something in the category "Things That Are Hot," my number one answer would be the Divine Fits show this week in LA, and I think 9 out of 10 concert goers would agree with me.  Check out the album teaser below, as well as the full stream of the song "Like Ice Cream" (mmmm...ice cream).  Oh and Divine Fits are playing 3 more times in LA this month -- get at me if you need tickets!

Oh and if you make it to the theater this weekend, why not check out Sparkle featuring not one but 2 Numero Group jams, Shirley Ann Lee's "Please Accept My Prayer" and Frankie & Robert's "Sweet Thing"

Yep, definitely too hot to think of a witty closer for this blog post.  I'll be sitting in front of the fan til next time...
