156/Silence "From A Distance"
From Kerrang!:
”
156/Silence have never been a band particularly interested in standing still. From A Distance continues that evolution, taking the bruising metalcore of their earlier work and giving it a more considered edge. Its sounds are far more grown up, with atmosphere playing just as important a role as sheer heaviness. Not every experiment lands, but there’s enough here to suggest the Pittsburgh quintet are continuing to reach for something much bigger.
Control Burns eases the door open with an ominous sense of tension, slowly building before No Arms crashes through it. The latter is one of the album’s strongest moments, balancing punishing guitars with a cold, uneasy atmosphere that gives Jack Murray’s vocals plenty of space to sound genuinely menacing.”
